The most successful novel by the English clergyman and novelist Edward Bradley, writing as Cuthbert Bede, first published in three parts between 1853 and 1856. 369pp illustrated with black and white plate to frontis and with the author's drawings throughout to the text. Gilt lettering to spine. Binding a little slack, slight bumping to spine and corners, darkened endpapers and some foxing and age-toning to edges, otherwise good copy with no inscriptions..
