Sharp first and only printing of Hammett's first anthology of mystery stories including "A Man Called Spade". With an introduction by Ellery Queen. Square, tight, and clean throughout with fairly mild page edge-toning. Light wear to edges and rubbing to hinges. Small dog-ears on the bottom tips. Still fresh and bright with no chipping or tears. From the library of noted author and Sherlockian, Vincent Starrett, with his bookplate tipped in to inside front cover and his signature on the title page. A very pretty collectable copy.
