Paper covered boards, cream and red / cream marble; deckled edges right and bottom; A Biographical Note on the Author, Pages v-x, by whom is not clear, "V M D"; followed by the lead title (first appearing 1807). Specimen of the Art begins on Page 11: "L'Allegro, A Poem. By John Milton". Edward Copleston was a rector's son, born 1776, a scholar at Oxford, then a tutor, professor of poetry, provost, dean, (various schools) and Bishop of Llandaff. He died in 1849. His "Advice" piece utilized wit in an era when reviewers were being especially cruel (biographical notes).
