A deluxe, signed Franklin Library edition presenting Allen Drury's 1959 novel which is set in Washington, D.C. amidst political intrigue. The novel was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 1960. With illustrations by Walt Spitzmiller. Boldly signed by Mr. Drury on a front flyleaf. An entry in the publisher's Signed Limited Editions series. Publisher's "Notes from the Editors" booklet about this work is included. --- Bound in full tan bonded leather covers with four raised bands on spine. Titling, elaborate floral decorations to covers and spine, and textblock edges (AEG) all in bright gilt. Interior leaves printed on high-quality papers. Tan silk moire endpapers, with matching sewn-in satin ribbon placemarker. Volume lacks a dust jacket (as issued). --- A clean, tightly-bound, newish copy but with minor scratching to gilding at textblock edges; otherwise lacking damages. Synopsis

Advise and Consent is a 1959 political novel written by Allen Drury which explores the reactions of those in and around the United States Senate to the controversial nomination of Robert Leffingwell, a former Communist Party member, to be United States Secretary of State. The novel was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1960, and was followed by A Shade of Difference in 1962 and four subsequent sequels.
