A Pennington Wise mystery, this one finding our famous sleuth attempting to unravel the mystery of murder at a country estate where invited guests and household members willing assume responsibility for the death in order to protect someone else. Green cloth w/black lettering to front cover/spine, 284 pages. Spine cocked, a bit of wear to corners/spine ends, edges tanned/soiled, glue stains to pastedowns/end papers, in weary dust jacket w/rubbing, impressions, edge tears, chipping, bottom 1.5" of spine torn off, spine sunned, general wear. Jacket now in protective mylar sleeve. An uncommon edition in any condition. .
