About This Item

New York: Viking Press, 1964. Revised Edition. Hardcover. Near fine/very good. Octavo, 114pp. A crisp, clean copy, near fine, in the publisher's yellow boards with black cloth spine. In a very good dust jacket, with some unnecessary tape repairs to verso, and some scuffing and small tears. This copy SIGNED and quite warmly INSCRIBED by Miller on the front free endpaper: "To Gerald Henri Kean - I am grateful to you for your interest in my works, especially after the clamor of first-nights has receded and all that remains is perhaps a bit of beauty waiting to be shared. I wish you well, sir, Arthur Miller Aug. 1976." Though we were unable to identify Kean, we will note that this is the most effusive Miller inscription that we've handled.

Synopsis

Often called the most autobiographical of Arthur Miller's plays, After the Fall probes deeply into the psyche of Quentin, a man who ruthlessly revisits his past to explain the catastrophe that is his life. His journey backward takes him through a troubled upbringing, the bitter death of his mother, and a series of failed relationships.

About Cleveland Book Company

We are proud members of the ABAA.

As a small, independent bookseller in Cleveland, Ohio, I deal in general used, rare, and antiquarian books, autographs, manuscripts, pamphlets, and personal and family papers in all subjects. My family has been in the antiquarian book business since 1971. Are you moving, downsizing, or doing some spring cleaning? Did you inherit or otherwise come into some old books? Or, maybe you've collected modern novels from the last thirty or fifty years. No matter what kinds of books you have, we'd love to take a look at them! We travel throughout Ohio, western Pennsylvania and New York, southern Michigan, and eastern Indiana, and will travel farther in some cases to look at whole libraries or even just a few particularly interesting books. Give us a call at (216) 352-3940 and we can talk more about the kinds of books you have.
