Top of dust jacket with minor wear, otherwise a very fine and clean copy, near mint. First edition of Miller's highly personal and controversial play about Quintin, a New York Jewish intellectual who decides to reexamine his life in order to determine if he should marry his love, HolgaMiller was criticized for making the play to similar to his own personal life; Maggie's suicide is very similar to the suicide of Miller's renowned wife, Marilyn Monroe and the protagonist Quintin's thought about his failed marriages is often believed to be Miller's own thoughts about his failed marriage. "After the Fall" refers to mankind's fall from grace in Genesis and the loss of innocence. It also refers to Camus's novel The Fall, which likewise deals with guilt and lost innocence.
