Fine, bright copy in dust jacket with light wear to the spine ends and corners with a few tiny nicks to the extremities and a small closed tear to the top edge of the rear cover. After a prolonged affair with a married woman, a young man is accused of her murder and stands trial. A young woman, his betrothed, does not waver in her belief in his innocence and after his acquittal they are married. What is truth? The life of the newlyweds begins and continues after the verdict. In 1929, this story was the basis for the silent film movie titled TSCHECHOWA.
