East and West Library, Oxford, 1946. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Very Good Condition/Fair. Preface by translator, translator's introduction, glossary of Hebrew terms, translator's notes and index. Red coloured cloth covered boards with gilt coloured embossed titles to the front top edge of the front panel and there is a small black insert to the central part of the same panel, and, within that insert gilt coloured titles. Gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Orange coloured tint to the top text edge. Plaintext dustwrapper white coloured titles to the front panel and orange and black coloured titles to the back strip. Quoting the blurb of the front panel " ... The ideas of this outstanding modern thinker and master of Hebrew pros are as valid and inspiring today as they were at the time when they made their first appeal to the last generation. Softening to the back strip edges with a little bumping of the top book corners. A few rubs and marks to the book panels and the back strip shows fading, patchy, it's full length due to loss of dustwrapper. Offset tanning to the end pages and there is light age toning of the text block edges and pages. The book has been "over opened" between pages 64 and 65. Chipping of the dustwrapper corners and lower back strip edge. The top right hand edge of the back strip has a 2 inch tear; and there is a 5 1/2 inch split to the rear spine gutter edge, going to the lower edge. Rubbing, creasing and small tears to the top dustwrapper edge with rubbing to the panels. Sunning and staining of the back strip with a little browning to the verso. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
