503-536 pages with photographs. Quarto (10" x &")Bound in original publisher's wrappers. The National Geographic Magazine, Volume LXXXII, number 4 whole issue. First edition. A National Geographic reporter spots, vast resources which the Republic's war declaration adds to strength of United Nations. The article was published two months after Brazil had broken diplomatic relations with the Axis powers and officially declared war on Germany and Italy, on August 22, 1942. Brazil was particularly import to the United States in 1942 on two accounts; her rich deposits of natural resources and the military and strategic significance of her protruding southeastern coastline, which was considered vulnerable to Nazi military attack. Condition: Lacking spin, front wrapper detached and lacking back wrapper, lightly soiled. Whole issue Volume LXXXII, number 4 and lacks the map of South America else very good.
