Macmillan and Co., 1867. hard cover. Good/No jacket. London; Macmillan and Co., 1867. 2 vols. Hard Cover, no jacket. xxx+371pp, and x+372pp. Condition is Good. Gilt decorated green cloth boards are shelf worn, have bumped corners, and some fabric fraying at the extremities; the gilt decoration remains bright; NOTE that on Vol 1, the upper front corner of the board has been nibbled away, about 3/8" on each side of the corner. Vol 1 has a newspaper photo taped to one of the endpapers. Light foxing, primarily to preliminary pages of both volumes. Fold out map also lightly foxed with small tear at margin where attached to volume. Otherwise pretty clean and securely bound. "I must take the reader of these volumes by the hand, and lead him step by step along my rough path from the beginning to the end; through scorching deserts and thirsty sands; through swamp, and jungle, and interminable morass; through difficulties, fatigues, and sickness, until I bring him, faint with the wearying journey, to that high cliff where the great prize shall burst upon his view - from which he shall look down upon the vast ALBERT LAKE, and drink with me from the Sources of the Nile!"
