VERY IMPRESSIVE and VERY LARGE PANORAMA VIEW OF ALEXANDRIA (Egypt) as seen from the city towards the Sea with a beautiful maritime scene. DRAWN ON LOCATION by the famous Dutch traveler andtopographer Cornelis de Bruyn (1652-1726), this is an accurate depiction of the site where the Obelisk, called "CLEOPATRA'S NEEDLE" was situated since Roman Emperor Caesar Augustus had removed it from Heliopolis and relocated it to Alexandria (Egypt). In 1879 the Obelisk was given as a gift by Egypt to the United States and it was transported during a legendary journey the same year to the United States to be relocated in CENTRAL PARK NEW YORK in 1881. Original antique etching (copper plate) connected originally from two plates and folded as issued. RARE LARGE PAPER EDITION with exceptional large margins. De Bruyn describes sites "A" and "B" on the drawing as "two castles that guard the passage...." (to the Sea).
