Quarter red cloth with mustard yellow cloth covered boards, blind stamped grape vine and gilt titles on front board, top edge red, xv, 713 pp, colophon. One corner bumped, a few small dents in bottom edges of boards, a black stain to fore-edge near bottom, gift inscription recto ffep, notes in pencil on title page. Contains preliminary chapters on history of wine, spirits, distillation, and grapes (to p 57), the main, alphabetical section (to p 568), appendices covering Bordeaux wines, containers, tables for converting metric, British, and US units, pronouncing glossary, bibliography, acknowledgements (quite a long list, including titles and names of organizations), and index.
