Aside from some minor rubbing to the edges this is a very good, clean copy of this classic, beautifully illustrated, edition in an attractive fine early binding.:

A lovely clean copy finely bound by Blackwells in contemporary full red morocco. Spine with raised bands, ruled in gilt. Compartments double ruled, decorated and lettered in gilt. Double ruled borders on boards. Gilt inner denteles. All edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. Neat previous owners bookplate on front paste down endpaper. A fine copy of this intertesting travelogue.:

T. N. Foulis. London. 1913. FIRST EDITION. 8vo. (8.5 x 5.6 inches). Twelve full colour tipped-in plates, each mounted onto beige laid paper with a printed border and title. The colour illustrations, from Yeats' original oil paintings, include; The Farmer, Publican, Exile from Erin, Police Sergeant, Priest and Country shop assistants. Each plate with a tissue guard. Aside from just a few spots of very light foxing to a handful of of pages this is a very good and bright copy. Finely bound in recent full dark green morocco leather binding. Spine with five raised bands. Compartments ruled, decorated and lettered in gilt. Single gilt ruled border on boards. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed.

Astolat Press. Leopold B. Hill. London. No date. circa 1910. FINE BINDING BY BUMPUS. 16mo. (5 x 4 inches). 90pp. Illustrated with a mono frontis of G. F. Watts' Love and Life, with a tissue guard. Fine full dark brown morocco, spine with raised bands. Compartments ruled in black and gilt. Boards with three gilt and one black ruled lines. Board edges with gilt ruled lines. Inner boards with double gilt ruled borders and previous owners inscription initials, dated 12th December 1927 in gilt. Plain endpapers. All edges gilt. Red silk bookmark. Small chip of loss to the top outer corner of the front blank free endpaper but Overall a lovely bright copy in a fine decorative binding.

Dobson and Co. London. 1820. FIRST DOBSON EDITION. 8vo. [2], [11]-194, [492] pages. There is an error in the pagination: 44-73 are omitted in the page numbering but the text is complete. Illustrated with engraved portraits of Queen Caroline (frontispiece) and Bergami, and a large hand coloured folding plate showing a depiction of the Lords at the trial with a legend of the individuals present. One page with a small hole to the middle of the leaf and some offsetting to the two portrait engravings otherwise a very good copy in an attractive early fine leather binding of full mid brown calf. Both boards elaborately decorated with blind tooled multiple oval design panel within twelve ruled line border. An arc and star gilt roll has been tooled around the outside of the boards. Spine with four wide raised bands, each with gilt decorations. Compartments ruled, lettered and decorated in gilt. Board edge corners with gilt ruled lines. Marbled endpapers. All edges marbled.

Boots the Chemist. ND.,(1927). NEW EDITION. 4to (10.1 x 8.1 inches). Sixteen full colour plates, mounted within a black ruled border. Each plate with the title printed below the border. 95 line illustrations throughout, some full page. Previous owners neat name on front blank endpaper otherwise a fine copy in original burgundy cloth with gilt illustrations and lettering to front board and spine. Front board with quadruple ruled black borders, spine ruled in gilt. In the scarce original publshers dustwrapper with colour illustration mounted onto the front panel, below black lettering and four line border. Flaps and other panels lettered in black. Original printed price (15/-) on spine has been blacked out neatly. Aside from a couple of tiny chips to the wrapper this is a beautiful fine example of this well produced edition. Scarce in this condition.:

Published at The Hampshire House Workshops, Hampshire Hog Lane, Hammersmith, London. 1915. FIRST EDITION. 8vo. (7.5 x 5.2 inches). Illustrated with 12 wood engravings. One of 1500 copies. Inscribed by Gill on the front free endpaper "Eric Gill for H. Davis, 22.3.28" A very good copy in original grey canvas spine, lettered in black, with red paper covered boards with black lettering and illustration to the front board. Some loss to the paper on the boards, affecting 7 letters of the address at the bottom. Spine with just a little darkening. Overall a very good copy. Uncommon inscribed by Gill. --Evan Gill. Spine with five raised bands, each with gilt piping and floral tooling. Compartments double ruled, decorated and lettered in gilt. Marbled paper on boards. Top edge gilt. Marbled endpapers. A beautiful copy of this first English edition of the Author's autobiographical novel, set against the backdrop of the 1905 Russian revolution, inspired by his childhood in Odessa.

R. and J. Dodsley, London. - No date. 1760. FIRST EDITION. Two volumes. 8vo. (6.2 x 4 inches). Portrait frontis in volume one. Previous owner name neatly written on blank free endpapers and a name clipped from the top of the title pages, otherwise very good, bright and clean copies throughout. Early full tan calf bindings with raised bands to the spines. Compartments double gilt ruled. Red title labels, gilt. Some minor wear to the extremities but overall very good and attractive bindings. ---- Complete as published, these first two volumes of Stern's Sermons of Mr. Yorrick, published anonymously in 1760, were added to at a later date with another five volumes issued between 1766 and 1769.
