Small booklet ( 9 x 11cms) Chromo-lithograph images (9 in text, 2 covers) on light card (after H.Reynolds). Stab-bound with silk tie (present) Gilt edges all round. Pages 18 No engraver indicated text images (note back cover image initials BDS) Text images: Sam Weller, Micawber, Gamp, Cuttle, Tigg, Pecksniff, MacSinger, Old Mr Weller, Nell's Grandfather. Plus Mrs Gamp front cover & 'daisy' design back cover. Fine clean, no damage or marks. Very fine, near original condition - protected many years?

Octavo, viii, 384 pages; VG-; Green-yellow spine (slipcase) with raised bands and gilt lettering; Boards show mild wear to head/tail of spine, bottom corner of back cover is slightly bumped, and a small white stain appears just below the title on spine; Textblock has deckled edges, and the ffep / front pastedown have begun to separate from the rest of the textblock; Meets first issue points: page 245, line 12 "eye" -- page 245 line 16 "so pretty" -- page 291, line 7 "brainy bumps" -- page 342, line 23 "brain of Zeus"; However, the corn graphic on spine is pointed down; Housed in dark green 1/4 leather-bound and cloth slipcase, with matching cloth chemise; CX consignment; NOTE: Shelved in Room G. 1346258. NO publ. date- appears to be early or 1st Brentano's printing (there were supposedly three undated Brentano's editions, all of which were issued prior to 1901). Dark yellow cloth binding w/ extensive color floral motif on both covers, black lettering on front & spine; 39 pages + printer's statement- all printed on 1 side only; top edge of text block gilt (still bright), side edge rough-cut; 6.25 x 4""; red & black lettering on title page. Binding: tight, bright & clean covers w/ vibrant colors; very small corner bows, slight spine discolor (lettering totaly intact & readable). Old pictorial (etching of temple?) lawyer/owner bookplate (5"" x 3""), dated 1914, inside front cover. Bookplate also appears to be pencil signed in bottom margin ""Antonio Barone '14"".
