About This Item

Vancouver: Colophon, 1980. Second state binding in medium green cloth (perhaps a more attractive colour than the original grey cloth) with osprey blind stamped on upper board and gilt lettering on spine (Alison is mispelled with two "L"s). Limited to 500 copies overall, this is one of 22 copies of the original sheets bound up 18 years later in 1998. None of the second state copies are numbered, but all were signed by Valerie Haig-Brown. A posthumous publication of a work, written in 1939 or 1940, of a child's encounter with five birds of the west coast; 35 pages. Designed and printed letterpress by Jim Rimmer at Pie Tree Press, who also did the illustrations; the colour linocut tipped to the title page is signed "Jim Rimmer". Preface, written and signed, by daughter, Valerie Haig-Brown. [Cave A194b]. Signed by Editor. Limited Edition. Hard Cover. Fine/No Jacket as Issued. Illus. by Jim Rimmer.
