Philadelphia: Thomas Desilver, Jun., 1832., 1832.. Fair. FIRST EDITION OF THIS EARLY AMERICAN TREATISE ON CHOLERA - Octavo, 9-1/2 inches high by 5-3/4 inches wide. Hardcover, bound in the original light green paper covered boards, tastefully re-backed with a modern light brown cloth spine, with the original printed paper label on the front cover and a new gilt-lettered brown label mounted on the spine. The original boards are quite stained and rubbed. [4], 127 & [1] pages. Ex-library, de-acquisitioned by the "School of Public Health Columbia University", with their stamp at the top of the title page. There is dampstaining and scattered foxing throughout. A previous owner's name is penned on the front endpaper. Good working copy.

First edition. An early American treatise on cholera which examines the causes, postmortem appearances, and treatment of the disease. This report by the College of Physicians of Philadelphia was quite likely prepared in reaction to the serious cholera epidemic which broke out in England in 1830.
