About This Item
New York: Reynal and Hitchcock, 1947. First Edition. First Edition. The author's first play (after writing a novel and a nonfiction book), winner of two Tony Awards for Best Author and Best Director, and basis for the 1948 film noir starring Burt Lancaster and Edward G. Robinson.
Very Good plus in pale green cloth covered boards (also issued in gray cloth, no priority), in a touched-up dust jacket that presents as Near Fine. Faint foxing along the board edges, with light offsetting on the front endpapers. Jacket has a two and a half inch closed tear at the bottom rear panel, with several cello tape repairs on the verso. Evidence of touch-up visible on the verso at the jacket corners.
