A tight, clean, sound copy in tan paper covered boards quarter bound in orange paper with metallic green lettering on the spine with very minor overall shelf wear plus some soiling of the bottom board edges plus the usual library stamps on the half-title page and top outside paper edges plus the dust jacket endflaps have been glued down to the inside surfaces of the boards plus the front endpaper has has a 1.5"x4" section cut out as part of the library's withdrawal process. The dust jacket shows only very minor overall shelf wear plus it is still in the original library mylar sleeve with the usual library label on the spine that wraps around onto the back plus the endflaps have been glued down to the inside surfaces of the boards. A novel about a man who graduates from Harvard in 1956 with a Ph.D. in philosophy and is diverted from teaching to become involved in the nascent civil right movement in the 1960s. He becomes a spokesman, a leader, and a symbol of the new generation demanding full rights. The novel covers his brief, turbulent, charismatic life which ends with his assassination.
