London: Hodder & Stoughton, 1949 First edition. HB. Black cloth, gilt title to spine and pictorial dustjacket showing colour imahe of Hatfield House, the family seat. 262pp. With 12 b&w photos and illustrations in plates. The author's life against the background of the political and social changes of the twentieth century, which he was involved at the League of Nations, as politician, and barrister. Good in Very Good jacket, now in clear sleeve. Pages clean though with spotted edges and endpapers. Jacket also browned in places, and with some foxing; small losses to corners and spine ends.
