Perlman's examination of the life and art of the acclaimed Native American sculptor, Allan Houser (1914-1994), whose Indian name is Ha-o-zous. The Chiricahua Apache began as a painter, then worked in wood, but ended up working in stone, steel and plaster, which he crafted into bronze sculptures. With illustrations of 300 of Houser's works, 132 of them in full color. Signed by Allan Houser in bold black marker to a front endpaper. --- In full brown cloth-covered boards with Houser facsimile signature in blind to front cover and spine titling in gilt. Volume in dust jacket with Houser sculpture to front panel, a view of his Santa Fe-area studio to the rear. --- A clean, tightly-bound, bright copy though with a shallow indentation at front joint, slight whitish soiling to cloth, and a narrow strip of sunning to lower cover edge. Price-clipped dust jacket with a little chafing to extremities, some scratches but remaining bright and intact.
