Signed by Arthur Rackham at limitation page: "This Edition is limited to five hundred and twenty-five copies of which five hundred are for sale. This is No. '125.' 'Arthur Rackham.'" Measures apprx. 7 3/4" x 10"; significantly larger design than trade edition . Fine, dark blue cloth boards, gilt cover and spine titles with vignettes, moderate cover, corner wear, rub, some discoloration. Cover depicts two whimsical elfin characters, one appearing more benevolent, the other mischievous. Spine titles with vignette; Heinemann at heel of spine. As a result of the first world war, this is the only Rackham limited edition not to be issued in white cover. Pages generally very good; moderate page roll. Last few at back with some discoloration at exterior edge. Elfin illustrated endpapers; some toning. Retains dark grey ribbon marker w/some fray. Bind good, square; hinges intact. Includes a dozen richly detailed color plates by Arthur Rackham mounted on heavy stock matte leaves with captioned tissue guards adjacent. Two dozen with full page b&w; partial-page imagery, headers, and tailpieces also by Rackham throughout. Rare near very good limited signed edition. Classic tales include: "English tale, Jack the Giant Killer; Scotch tale, The Battle of the Birds; Welsh tale, Lludd and Llevelys; Irish tale, Guleesh; French tale, The Sleeping Beauty; Italian tale, Cesarino and the Dragon; Portuguese tale, What Came of Picking Flowers; Japanese tales, The Adventures of the Little Peachling, The Fox's Wedding, and, The Tongue-Cut Sparrow; Russian tale, Frost; a Serbian tale, The Golden Apple-Tree and the Nine Peahens; and finally, The Last Adventure of Thyl Ulenspiegel, a Belgian tale."
