About This Item

Paris: Onfroy, 1792. Original wrappers, uncut, in leather slipcase. Good+/Slipcase Fine. 16mo. Pp. [4], lxxvi, 257, [3], 108. With six engraved plates after Moreau le Jeune, including frontis. Original wrappers, untrimmed. Wear to wraps. Bookplate and signature. (Bookplate, dated 1916, of Oscar Ladner, a factory owner in Vienna whose son Gerhardt was the art historian.; signature is that of the Viennese antiquarian Heinrich Hinterberger, dated 1953, or perhaps a book buyer who indicated they bought the book from Hinterberger.) Sporadic red pencil underscoring throughout. In sum, a presentable copy in a red leather slipcase. The 1792 editions of the Almanach are the first to include the well known treatise Precis historique de la revolution francaise by Rabaut (1743-1793) and to include the text of the Constitution, along with the King's acceptance, from 14 September 1791. This is the second edition of the year 1792, also containing the same series of excellent engravings after allegorical and historical drawings by Moreau le Jeune. The plates were executed by J. B. Simonet, L. M. Halbou, J. J. Hubert, Coiny, and de Longeuil. Not in INED. MONGLOND II, p. 633; TOURNEUX I, 25a. Not in BL.
