About This Item
Paris: A. Quantin, 1885. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. 7 1/2 X 10 3/4 Inches. 312 [4] PP. Important work on French women of all societal levels during the Victorian Era. While Octave seems to have a great interest and appreciation for women and their adornments, he makes the case that women are too taken to debauchery and high temperament to seriously rival the male in highly skilled professions. Period leather spine and tips over marbled boards. Five raised hubs to spine. Bound by "Macdonald" in New York. This edition contains nine color illustrations, but appears to lack the color frontis illustration. Light toning throughout.
