About This Item

The Detective Book Club produced volumes of three crime novels from 1942 to 1999. Originally monthly, near the end they dwindled down to just a few per year. Many famous detective and crime novelists had their early works featured in DBC editions. Often, books were published in DBC editions before, or at the same time as they were published in mass market form. A little about our authors:

Ronald Weber: (The book shows the author's name as Robert, but it is actually Ronald.) Weber is a professor emeritus in American Studies at Notre Dame. Along with writing at least seven non-fiction works, many articles, some short fiction, and editing three professional journals, he also found time between classes to compose five novels, three of which are in his "fly-fishing" series. This is the first fly-fishing mystery.

Ann Dukthas: A pen name of P. C. Doherty. Some writers find one muse and stick to it. Sue Grafton wrote about little else than her Kinsey Milhone character. Agatha Christie had a small party of sleuths. P. C. Doherty has 14 series (including one just started in 2018) under seven different pen names. He has published upwards of 120 different novels and has had stories appear in other people's collections as well. This is the fourth of four in the Nicholas Segalla series.

Bill Crider: As well as collaborating with Willard Scott, Crider wrote many novels on his own. Author of over 65 novels, four novellas and a bundle of short stories, Crider is perhaps best known for his 25 volume Dan Rhodes series. Even your child may know of Crider from his contribution to the Wishbone series. Crider died in 2018. This is the ninth Dan Rhodes novel.
