Houghton Mifflin Company. Very Good in Very Good dust jacket. 1939. 1st Edition; 1st Printing. Hardcover. Hardcover with dustjacket, "a peerless gift book for the Christmas season," first printing as indicated by the same date on title page and copyright page, the red cloth has a small piece missing on the bottom fore-edge of the rear cover and moderate tanning is present on the top outer page-edge, also, tiny areas of wear to the top corners of some of the pages, the binding is clean and tight and the contents are fine, the jacket has shallow edge-loss at the top of the rear panel and moderate fading on the spine, the jacket is clean and remains presentable, the original price (1.50) is present and a professional (removable) mylar cover is included, this story features illustrations by Beatrice Stevens and is a handsome copy despite the flaws .
