NY: Architectural Book Publishing Co. (Paul Wenzel and Maurice Krakow), 1929. Hardcover. VG or better with the exception of inked lettering on spines denoting titles and call number, minor tearing to base of Part 2 spine. Each portfolio measures 14.5" wide and 20.5" tall.. Blue paper-covered boards with grey paper applied printed label sheets on covers. Vol 1: 60 bw plates of Parts 1, 2 and 3. Vol 2: 60 bw plates of Parts 4, 5, and 6. Oversize and very heavy (22 pounds) and will require extra postage. Survey of modern American architecture, mostly of the 1920s and many in revival styles, with floor plans, elevation drawings, and bw photo illustrations. Vol 1 contains The Shelton Hotel (NY), Bowery Savings Bank (NY), American Radiator Company Building (NY), Ford Engineering Laboratory (MI), New York Telephone Building, Hollywood Terminal Building, Indianapolis Public Library, Bush Building (NY), Grauman's Metropolitan Theatre (Los Angeles), University of Michigan Union, and Alabama Power Company. Vol 2 contains Nebraska State Capitol, Church of Saint Vincent Ferrer (NY), National Academy of Sciences and National Research Council (Washington DC), Chapel of the Intercession (NY), Los Angeles Public Library, Panhellenic House (NY), 33 North Michigan Ave (Chicago), New York State Physchiatric Institute and Hospital, William B. Irvine Auditorium (Philadelphia), and Mail Order Store for Sears (Los Angeles). Both volumes state a Preface by Lewis Mumford, which is not present in either volume, mysteriously. A lovely set. Worldcat calls for a part 7, which is not present with this set and would have been published later as a stand-alone volume.
