New York: Charles L. Webster, 1892. First Edition. First printing. Octavo (21cm). Grey-green cloth stamped in gilt, black, and gray; plain endpapers; [i]-[xvi] 17-277 [278],[8]pp; 8pp publisher's catalogue at rear; frontispiece and in-text illustrations. Embossed dealer's stamp of R. M. Hays & Bros, Hagerstown, MD, to front free endpaper. A sound but much rubbed copy, spine browned with gilt rubbed away, occasional internal marks: just Very Good. The book in which Twain famously omitted all references to the weather; also reputedly the first book to be composed using phonographic dictation. BAL 3434. MCBRIDE p.134. WRIGHT III: 1809. [62224].
