Muchen, Germany: F. A. Davis Company. Near Fine in Very Good+ dust jacket. 1948. First Edition. Hardcover. Black cloth titled in gilt. Stated first edition hardcover. Flat signed by Mencken to the front of DJ in the year of publication. Bookplate to ffep states "Mencken: Bradford F. Swan Collection." Swan was himself an author/journalist/critic and collector, and the archives at Yale have several manuscripts inscribed by Mencken to him. They apparently corresponded. Backstrip gently softened, points lightly rubbed. The DJ in mylar is toned with a vertical crease to rear panel, and light wear to heel. ; Large 8vo 9" - 10" tall; Signed by Author .
