This book is a discussion of a narrow but important area of martial belts of the 1830s through the turn of the century and is only a brief cataloguing of the waist and cartridge belts and the closely-related, commonly-encountered accoutrements often seen in displays and for sale at arms shows. A book that is very presentable and well documented with photos.

Tight, clean, attractive first edition of this quite uncommon pictorial study of these accoutrements. On the title page, above the printed title, the author inscribes and signs enormously in medium black marker to a noted Chicago Civil War collector: "To Kevin Kavanagh, / With Best Regards, / R. Stephen Dorsey." Below the printed title, he signs a second time. A superbly illustrated chronicle, highly detailed and informative.
