There is a previous owner's ink signature on the front flyleaf; After Rudyard Kipling's death in 1936, his widow, Josephine, decided to destroy all of his unpublished work. However, in 1975, she donated American Notes to the University of Vermont. The book is a collection of Kipling's thoughts on the United States, written in 1898.; 32mo; 267 pages .
