About This Item
New York: Guggenheim Hermitage, 2003. Book. Illus. by Illustrated. New. Cloth. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. No edition stated (2003). Red cloth binding, 128 pp. bright yellow endpapers. In 32 large color plates, this beautifully printed catalog presents paintings and sculptures from eight of the most important precursors and founders of the Pop art movement-Jim Dine, Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, Claes Oldenburg, Robert Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist, Tom Wesselmann, and Andy Warhol. A condensed overview of the Pop movement, it takes as its point of departure the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum's seminal 1963 Pop exhibition Six Painters and the Object. Each of the artworks is extensively footnoted in an appendix that also gives biographies of the artists. New in new dustjacket, protected with a mylar cover..
