Philadelphia, PA, USA: Mackellar, Smiths & Jordan, 1879. Beveled brown (leatherette over cloth?) boards with gilt illustration on front and gilt lettering on spine. Many b&w illustrations. -- Covers edgeworn, substantially rubbed (moreso on back and spine); overlaid leatherette wearing away at edges in spots, especially spine extremities. Front inner hinge cracked but strong; rear inner hinge patched but patch is starting to come off at top. Former owner inscriptions on front and rear matter. Front blank matter especially edgeworn/chipping. Interior tanned, occasional foxing, recurring dampstains, shadowing from clippings. Occasional page edge chipping. Expected to see some markings, but couldn't find any. -- In Fair condition -- plenty of flaws, but still strong, intact, and complete -- highly usable. 383 pp.. Eleventh Edition. Hardcover. Fair/No Dust Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
