The goal of this festschrift is to reflect on areas of knowldged where Walter Jacob has already made important contributions. Dr. Staitman; s paper offers an overall assessment of Walter Jacob's rabbinate by drawing up a set of principles that undergirds it. He provides a model for promoting liberal Judaism and for constructing a model of the rabbinate to be emulated.
