New York and London: Praeger Publishers, 1971. Worn copy of the first edition, 1971. Results of intensive investigation into examples, early and late, of American still-life since the rediscovery of a large number of significant artists and their work during the 1940s. Generously illustrated, mostly in black and white, with a handful of color plates. Heavy white linen cloth, color illustrated frontis and verso, 264 pages with index, color illustrated dustjacket. The book is in fair condition with a slightly musty odor, conspicuous edgewear including a three-inch square area with spotting to the upper right corner of the front cover, sound text block, rear hinge tape-repaired, page 207 with a two-inch neatly closed tear extending diagonally down from its upper corner, otherwise clean pages with no names or other markings. The mylar protected dustjacket is corner clipped and is also in fair condition with four pieces of clear tape at its periphery, including spine ends and bottom front cover, little paper loss. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Fair/Fair. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
