About This Item
State of New Jersey, 1916. Book. Collectible Fine. Offered here is a very fine original stock certificate for 100 Shares of The American Thread Company of NJ, in the name of Edward H. R. Green issued on Sep. 7, 1916, which was the year of his mother's death. The shares were sold on Feb. 11th, 1938. The document measures approx. 9x11 inches. Green was the son of Hetty Green, the Witch of Wall Street, who grew up in New Bedford, MA, late of NYC and Vermont. Colonel Green as he was known owned a mansion at Round Hill, in South Dartmouth, MA and was a very eccentric character and wealthy man who installed an air strip on the grounds of his mansion where Charles Lindbergh once landed. Included with this rare stock certificate is a unused sturdy cardboard like book mark approx 4x6" given to him by Harmer, Rooke & Co. the firm that dealt with his world famous stamp and coin collections. A library drawing, EHR Green and compliments of Harmer, Rooke and Co is printed on the book plate which is unused. Photos of both upon request, very scare, rare and unique..
