About This Item

New York, NY, U.S.A.: Penguin Putnam Inc., 1998. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good+/Very Good. A Dutton Children;s Book; First Edition; 99 p. incl. index; VG+/VG; dark brown boards with gold printing on spine, very slightly bumped at top of spine, otherwise in perfect condition, seems unread. DJ unclipped, bright, slightly bumped, has small closed tear at top of spine. DJ is illustrated with a colour portrait of "Cinque", the leader of the Amistad captives. A very good account, written for young readers but of interest to any age, of the Amistad incident. Well illustrated with drawings and photographs, including courtroom sketches of the captives reproduced on the endpapers. Walter Dean Myers has received many awards for his books for chidren and young adults, and this is an excellent example of his work. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
