New York: McGraw-Hill, 1973. Hardcover. xxii, 146p., very good first edition stated in like dust jacket. Inscribed and signed by Tod Ensign, the co-founder of Safe Return. Herndon was a "self-retired" Vietnam veteran who went AWOL and escaped to Paris. In 1970, he returned openly to the United States with the help of the veterans' organization Safe Return to face the charge of desertion in a military court.
