New York: American Tract Society, 1860. Hardcover. Good +. Attributed to George Mogridge (also known as Old Humphrey). 141 p.: illustrations; 12 cm. Original dark blue cloth with blind-stamped decoration on both boards. Gilt-stamped spine title, and illustration on spine and front board. All page edges gilt. Former owner's name inscribed in ink on both sides of blank leaf preceding title page: J.F. Polk. Inscribed twice in pencil on blank following text: James F. Polk, Winchester, Va., dated 1860 and 1865. No date of publication, series numbering, or printer given. Printed in the typeface adopted by the American Tract Society in 1848. Inscriptions suggest 1860 as year of publication. Addition largely illegible inscriptions on page preceding title page with dates from 1863 and 1864. In Good+ Conditon: slightly cocked; corners are rubbed through; slight loss of cloth at ends of spine; joints are rubbed but still solid; front free endpaper lacking; title page stained by ink inscription on facing page; some upper page corners creased; scattered soiling; otherwise pages are clean and tight.
