About This Item
Kharkov: Proletarii, 1930 Octavo 17.5x12.8 cm., wrappers, 68pp. Moisei Efimovich Ravich-Cherkassky, pen name of Moisei Rabinovich (1884 - died after 1936), was a party activist in Ukraine, historian, and social scientist, who at one point worked for the Cheka. Initially an anarchist, he was a founding member of the CPU in Ukraine. He promoted Yiddish avant-garde and modernism in Ukraine and held high positions in literary institutions in Kharkov until 1935 when he was arrested for Trotskyism and disappeared in the gulag. The current work is a sympathetic exploration of the history and philosophical underpinnings of anarchism, especially as it flourished in pre-1917 Russia. This copy fine.
