Saunders hot pressed watercolor paper; guard sheets, with letterpress, are blue Japanese Moriki paper. this copy is No. "17/25"; signed in pencil by the author, the illustrator and Brian Davies.Ancient Needs is an original narrative about the Harp Seal and the Magdalen Islands by Mark Philip Carol. It is the result of a trip taken this past Spring to view the annual birthing of the Harp Seal pups. This book heralds a line of publications from the new ABCedary Letterpress. Carol's account takes as its subject the white-furred seal pups, whose explotation has been the subject of recent controversity: the hunters, whose lives have involved seals for centuries: and the magnificent but hostile environment in which they interact.
