About This Item

New York: Harlin Quist, Incorporated, 1971. Very good plus in very good plus dust jacket.. First US edition of this stunningly psychedelic picture book about two astronauts at the mercy of an evil space octopus, and how they make him pay for his misdeeds. Publisher Harlin Quist had an eye for the unusual, and an affinity for the avant-garde. Before his series of picture books began in 1967, "few books published for children had collectively raised such consistent debate and discussion, applause and criticism" (Paley, 111). He worked with a variety of artists to create a spectrum of attractive illustrated titles, including Heinz Edelmann, the distinctive artist behind the Beatles's Yellow Submarine film. ANDROMEDAR SR1 is an exciting title even among the rest of Harlin Quist's eye-catching catalogue. 12.5'' x 8.5''. Original color pictorial boards. Original price-clipped color pictorial dust jacket. Illustrated in color and black and white. [28] pages. Jacket with mild edgewear, tiny spot of soil to front flap. Front board a bit bowed. Vibrant.
