About This Item

Edinburgh & London: William Blackwood, 1853 Second edition, extensively revised and with new information on various matters including Sutherland, salmon fishing and anlging streams. HB. Twentieth century rebinding in full leather with gilt title to spine, gilt border lines and gilt motifs of trefoils and hearts (a rather deco-style of decoration); top page edges gilt and marbled endpapers. xxiii, 357pp. With engraved frontispiece plate after painting by James Giles, a hand-coloured engraved plate of Tweed Flies, two engraved landscape views in the , and a few small figures in text. Note that this copy lacks the map of Scotland which would have been at the back. Very Good copy otherwise: bright clean covers with slight leather fade to spine, pages generally clean with a few minor spots, browning to frontispiece and title pages. B & w photos in plates and line drawings n text. Mostly on the brown trout of Scottish lochs. Good: faded area to front cover, rubbed edges with bumps to spine; pages clean and very good. Pencil name to flyleaf. Nice looking copy.
