Hardcover, octavo, embossed brown cloth boards, gilt spine titles, pictorial dust jacket, publisher's black top stain, 132 pp. Very good book, cloth corners and edges lightly worn; very good dust jacket, chipped spine ends lightly worn and creased, joints rubbed, lower cover top edge creased with 1" tear, lower cover top corner torn 1/4", edges and corners to covers lightly worn. The epic poem of a generational spaceship making an escape from earthly cataclysm only to avoid a tragic crash with space trash forcing the vessel on a new uncharted path of existential dilemmas. Martinson won the Nobel prize for literature in 1974. And by 1960 Aniara was adapted into a two act opera by Karl-Birger Blomdahl and libretto by Erik Lindegren. Adapted from the Swedish by Hugh MacDiarmid and Elspeth Harley Schubert. Introduction by Dr. Tord Hall.
