The Sandwich Islands are today's Haiwaii Islands; it was first so named by Captain James Cook in 1878). Historical fiction. Story of young Anne, but 17 year old, voyages around the Cape in 1840 with a group of missionaries to Islands in search for her sea captain father. There she will school Haiwaiian royal children when the British, French & Americans were vying for control of the Islands. Author Marcella Thum (- 2002) received the Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best Juvenile book in 1965 (Mystery at Crane's Landing).
