Washington, DC: GPO, 1908. Illustrated by facsimile folding map "Depons' Map of the Captain-Generalship of Caracas, with Guina 1807 (Norris Peters Co.). First edition. Navy cloth, gilt print spine. 8vo. pp. 550. Indices. Very Good. Two lightly bumped corners, internally near fine with overall toning. Francesco de Miranda (pp. 189-539 with Index and folding map) was one of two recipients sharing the Robert Baxter Adams Prize for 1907 [and Robertson's doctoral thesis, previously awarded the Yale historical prize in 1903]. Two volumes as The Life of Miranda were later published in 1929 (UNCP, Chapel Hill). Robertson was also founder of the Hispanic American Historical Review and contributed from 1918-53. Contents scanned and include: The Relation of the United States to Latin America by Bernard Moses, Proposals for an Indian State, 1778-1878 by Annie H. Abel, Legazpi and Philippine Colonization by James A. Robertson (1873-1939), The pacific Railroads and the Disappearance of the Frontier in America by Frederic L. Paxson [1925 Pulitzer for History of the American Frontier, coined phrase "historical engineering"]..
