About This Item

Boston: Houghton, Mifflin Company, 1959. Stated First Printing. True First Edition. Brown and pink titles with charicature of the author on yellow cloth boards which are clean and unmarked with no wear but a little light bumping to spine tail. Internally very clean, tight and unmarked apart from a small mark to closed fore edge. Dustjacket is price clipped with a little wear to top and bottom. The author an actress, writer and monologuist noted for her humorous pen and verbal slapstick presents twelve delightful sketches describing the hazards of being born a mimic and being tall. Travel in Japan had it's traumas as she notes that not having the grace, like Japanese women, to rise from the kneeling position, she reverts to the ape in trying to get erect, scuttling about on all fours until she finds a lever like a chair with which to haul herself up. Embellished with drawings by Alajalov. 11. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good. Illus. by Alajalov. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
