About This Item

Schenectad: Cornelius P. Wyckoff, 1796. 144pp. 18mo. Contemporary calf, gilt leather label. Calf a bit worn and cracked, but binding quite solid. Light foxing and soiling. Very good. Third American edition, the first having been published in Providence in 1794. This is the Bishop of Llandaff's first defense of Christianity, which, according to the introduction, "contains a judicious arrangement of some of the leading arguments in support of Christianity; detects, exposes, and rationally confutes the sophisms and plausible, though invidious insinuations, with which it has been attacked." A scarce imprint; Wyckoff was the first printer in Schenectady, establishing himself in 1792. ESTC notes fewer than ten copies of this work. EVANS 31563. ESTC W11563.
