About This Item
The linen covers have what appears to be water damage that has bubbled in places. The inside cover has a nameplate and another owner's name (1982). The front and back fly pages are age stained and foxed, and the edges of the book pages are age stained, but the pages within are pristine. They are printed on high-rag-content paper, and the stitch binding is tight. Another 1889 copy was found for sale at $52. Used copies with later dates have a range of prices (e.g., 1944, $13). Modern paperback reprints are numerous and run from $11 to $21 to $40 hardbound. The book has remained in print due to its essay on style and literary criticism on major poets. Except for the bubbles on the cover, this First Edition is in excellent condition.
