Illustrated (photographs throughout). Text in English. Pages are clean (unmarked) but slighty age-toned. Binding is tight and secure. Covers are scuffed/slightly soiled with bumping to upper corners, crease to lower left rear corner, rubbing to extremities. The twenty-two aqueducts in this book are the result of a work produced for the newspaper Águas Livres which, between February 2007 and November 2008, published twenty articles corresponding to a brief study and its photographic survey. From this research, some curiosities related to the history and construction of these water monuments stand out. Thus, and in chronological terms, the oldest of the aqueducts studied is the Roman one at Conímbriga, built in the 17th century. I AD The most modern is the Alviela, inaugurated in 1880. The rest, with the exception of the Nova Janelas aqueduct, in Ponta Delgada, from 1830, were built between the 15th and 18th centuries. Nice reading copy. . Oversized Softcover with Flaps.
